Department of English
The Department of English offers 2 courses at the first year of the B.Com. degree in compliance with the curriculum prescribed by the affiliating university, SPPU, Pune. Hence, the objectives of the department are to realise the objectives set by the curriculum by using diverse methods in teaching and evaluation.

Weakness of the Department:
- Large classrooms, very high Teacher-student ratio.
- English is taught in 2 semesters only resulting in half learnt or poorly learnt ideas in literature, language and life skills.
Opportunities for the Department:
- The department can create Interdisciplinary courses in collaboration with other departments.
Challenges:
- Multi-ability, multicultural, heterogeneous students demand variety in teaching- learning & evaluation methods.
- Large number of students at compulsory level, inappropriate Teacher-Student ratio.
- Changing course structures under NEP 2020
Future Plans of the Department:
- To create or compile Audio Books for visually differently able students.
- To create short-term courses in focused areas like Academic Writing for Students, Reading Skills, Understanding Short Fiction, Understanding Non-fiction, Communication Skills etc.
