Gokhale Education Society, founded on 19th February 1918, is an illustrious educational enterprise with a rich legacy spanning over a century. Founded by Prin. T. A. Kulkarni, a disciple of Namdar Gopal Krishna Gokhale, G.E. Society today has grown to encompass more than 140 units across three zones in Mumbai, Nashik, and Thane-Palghar. It caters to an extensive student population of 1.25 lakh through its various educational institutes. These educational institutes provide training in a range of faculties including humanities, commerce, management, science, engineering and para-medical training and always strive for the holistic growth of students’ personalities. The visionary leadership of the Late Honourable Sir Dr. M.S. Gosavi, former Secretary and Director General of G. E. Society added unparalleled strength to the advancement of G. E. Society.
G. E. Society’s “B.Y.K. College of Commerce” was established by in the year 1957 to impart education in Commerce. BYK is one of the leading colleges affiliated to the University of Pune. It is recognized by the University Grants Commission under Section 2f and 12(B) of the UGC Act. Under the dynamic leadership of Sir Dr. M.S. Gosavi as a Principal of College from June 1958 and as the Secretary of G.E. Society till 8th July 2023,
The college has set up a role model in commerce education. It is the only college running Restructuring Programme having 4200 students enrolled at the UG & PG level.
The college offers Courses B.Com, BBA, BBA(CA) and BBA(IB) at graduate level, M.Com at postgraduate level and PhD in Commerce at Research Level.
The college has well-qualified staff that strives to offer quality education to students. The institute consistently organizes various student-centric initiatives and makes an effort to expose students to new learning methodologies, technologies, and innovative approaches to commerce education. As a result of such initiatives, the students of the college consistently perform remarkably in the examinations and secure high-level placements in prestigious organizations.
